We love it when we get the chance to think outside the box… way out of the box. Here are 4 new samples for 3 very different but very fun and creative new clients. Help us give them some fabulous names.

Designed for a client with artistic flair, this kitchen countertop will be at the heart of a lovingly restored 200 year old farmhouse and will feature a custom copper sink.

These two samples were designed for a fireplace surround and mantle in a whimsical sun room with vaulted ceilings and an inviting, subtly nautical vibe.

A new-construction farmhouse with a mid-century modern soul overlooking a mountain paradise will be the new home for this fun, funky bar with a chiseled edge.

Rohl, an Elkay brand, has unveiled a fabulous new product that the market place has been waiting for… stainless copper plated kitchen sinks.

Unlike traditional stainless sinks, these are constructed of high-grade, 16 gauge stainless steel for extreme durability. Traditional copper sinks tend to be much softer and have a “living” finish that will patina over time making it more suitable for traditional decor. These new sinks offer an elegantly functional contemporary option, crafted with a unique “tangent edge”, a rounded, easy to clean bottom edge radius and zero-edge side walls. We are now taking orders for these pieces, available in 6 undermount sizes.

You are cordially invited to a reception celebrating the collaborative work of Melanie Palma Designs, kitchensETC, and Artisan Concrete Décor at Accanto, the hottest new bar and restaurant in Richmond. A diamond in the fashionable west end, this vivid, modern space is the perfect canvas to showcase the team’s creative talents… and they’re so excited to share it with you.

What is accanto? Accanto, roughly translates to “next door” in Italian and is of course right next to its parent restaurant, Little Venice. While patrons can expect to receive the same attention to service and quality they have enjoyed at Little Venice for 10 years, Accanto is a completely different experience! Designed by Laura Knight, the small space has been transformed into a comfortable, yet chic/urban venue.

Melanie Palma of Melanie Palma Designs has set the stage for drama with a striking Micro Plaster accent wall. This unique decorative painting technique features soft aqua colors and a delicate scroll design in embeded copper, while light dances off the adjacent contrasting walls… awash in a sea of luxurious copper.

Playing off of this rich color palette, Carmela and Tony Wengraitis of Artisan Concrete Decor have created a “river” of aqua and teal glass running through a deep field of copper for the unique concrete bar top and tables. Their designs for the vanities introduce a large scale sculptural glass component for the men with intricate mirror and exposed aggregate for the ladies.

For the bar millwork, Carmela, President of kitchensETC, has used a rich warm black hue for the wine racks, base, and dramatic mirrored accent wall. Her choice in cabinetry, Bishop Cabinets, is a leader in innovation, selection and sustainability. Featuring a lifetime warranty, these pieces offer limitless opportunity for customization with enduring beauty.

What a fabulous use of concrete in this amazing bar.

A winner of the 38th Annual IIDA Interior Design Competition, Bar Agricole in San Francisco, CA features several textures and colors of decorative concrete. A creation of Aidlin Darling Design, San Francisco, CA, the project features a multitude of reclaimed materials and is slated to be LEED Platinum certified. Artisan Concrete Décor and Kitchens ETC have “raised the bar” again! We are very pleased to announce that one of our favorite joint projects, a new-construction kitchen in the Greywalls neighborhood of Powhatan, VA, is being featured in this month’s issue of Woman’s Day Kitchen and Bath magazine.

This elegant mid-century modern kitchen with an Asian inspired flair, features Yorktowne Cabinetry in a cherry java door style. The design elements of balance, symmetry and repetition of form are drawn upon to create a space that is both functional and balanced.

This large, open plan kitchen is divided into convenient zones, great for a family with multiple cooks. One island offers a large prep area and cleaning zone with built in recycling centers, dual dishwashers and a commercial grade sink and faucet. With a wine cooler, a raised seated concrete bar top and a prep sink, the second island is perfect for entertaining.

Other modern appliances include a Sub Zero 42” side by side refrigerator, a Wolf 36” dual fuel range with griddle, a Sharp microwave drawer, and a Miele built-in coffee maker. The cabinetry features such conveniences as a large pots and pans drawer, base spice pantry pull-out, tray base cabinet, wall cabinet tray dividers, roll-out trays and full-extension soft-closer drawer runners.
